Treat yourself to a break at La Gavina’s spa, enjoy a swim in the pool or work out in the gym.

Spa Valmont
Feel your stresses ease away the moment you descend the steps to La Gavina’s cavernous luxury spa, one of the best spas on the Costa Brava. Headed up by the delightful Ariadna de Lera and plays host to a variety of tiredness erasing pastimes: relax in its lavish indoor swimming pool with a separate jacuzzi, where you can gaze out onto the concha-like Bahía de Sant Pol; relax in the Sauna and Steam bath; book a massage in treatment rooms resplendent in contemporary white decor – 1 double and 2 individual; tone up in the spa’s expanded gym with recently updated Technogym equipment, or treat your other half to a manicure or pedicure.
Besides using a host of natural oils, the spa resort offers some of the world’s most advanced skincare products and luxurious spa treatments including Valmont, specifically used for facials, alongside Germaine de Capuccini for body treatments. Much like the spa hotel’s indoor pool, spa treatment rooms come with tranquil views of boats bobbing away in the glistening turquoise bay as standard – it really doesn’t get more relaxing than this.

Outdoor Freshwater Pool
La Gavina’s stunning Garbi Swimming Pool is a real showstopper and definitely the place to be seen. The seawater pool is dominated at one end by the Venus of S’Agaró, a gracious statue by sculptor Joan Rebull which has kept guard ever since its inception in 1969. With sun loungers arranged geometrically along the entirety of its 25-metre length, it’s like being on the deck of a grand ocean liner, admiring the high seas from a lofty position. In this case it’s the cerulean-coloured Bahía de Sant Pol, which Catalan short-story writer, Joaquim Ruyra once beautifully described as being “surrounded by verdant hilltops and cliffs surmounted by pine groves, the cove resembled a blue fan with a pristine beach of fine sand forming a golden border.”
For guests who appreciative greater privacy, Poolside Cabanas complete with terraces can be rented for an additional daily fee. The hotel’s pool bar, known as Blue Bar Piscina is at the far end, offering poolside drinks and snacks with shaded alcove seated areas framing shimmering turquoise vistas beyond. Sit back and relax to the chitter chatter of birdsong from the surrounding pines, while gentle waves caress the shoreline below.
