Bar El Barco

One of the living embodiments of La Gavina’s storied history, Bar El Barco, with its original herringbone parquet floors and polished wood panelled interior, is one of the most authentic bars in S’Agaro and definitely the place to channel your inner Napoleon. Yesteryear feels abound at this nautical-themed wood-panelled bar with shiny mahogany tables topped by vases filled with fragrant fresh flowers. Ship-style candelabra ‘gas’ lights, wooden replica model ships and framed antique prints of grand clippers and frigates, slightly faded over time adorn the walls, while a port-holed ceiling and skylights add to the authenticity. A deck-style window looking out onto El Barco restaurant complete the picture. It is rumoured the bar was the location of the now infamous altercation between two Hollywood legends – it is alleged the great Frank Sinatra once flew all the from the USA to La Gavina raging with jealousy. He’d heard a rumour that his beau Ava Gardner allegedly had an affair with bullfighter Mario Cabré on the set of the film Pandora and the Flying Dutchman, which was being shot nearby. Between multiple Dry Martinis and animated discussion, Gardner is rumoured to have slapped Sinatra around the face – although this apparently did not deter the ‘the voice’ from later proposing to her. El Barco offers an extensive range of beers, wines, spirits and our Signature Cocktails. Assorted bar snacks, tapas and light a la carte dishes.
