The Hostal de La Gavina, located in S’Agaró, in the heart of the Costa Brava, is an architectural complex of great beauty, with a unique history.  It has been designed in the purest Mediterranean style and nestles on the top of cliffs in a privileged position, overlooking the sea.

The first sketches by the nineteenth-century architect, Rafael Masó, of the Hostal de La Gavina, show the evolution of the building, departing from a brilliant modernist past and embracing nineteenth-century ideology and practices, thus making it a fine example of the latter. However, this prevailing architectural approach is combined with other stylistic elements that balance the overall effect.

The use of Mediterranean white and natural materials, also gives the building a feeling of lightness as it blends seamlessly into its surroundings.
